    Raleigh has left the building.

    Friday, May 22nd, 2009

(Houston) Well, ABC Pest Pool & Lawn has joined this blog from past blog at www.kidney-bikeride.com. So welcome to our new  blog site.

I would like to explain how this blog is going to work. Sandy Jenkins (mother of the brothers as well as the tag car behind them) will be helping us blog. By us, I mean myself, Tiffani Johnson - daughter and marketing director of Raleigh Jenkins, Adam Romig, Dallas’s marketing director, and Les Stobart, Austin’s marketing director. So we look forward to communicating with you how they are all doing.

Raleigh has been set back a bit from his accident a few weeks ago and we just pray for his shoulder and its strength from this point as he is doing surgery once he gets back from the ride. Raleigh and Dennis have both been hit by a car and thankfully it wasn’t too severe for either one of them.

Yesterday, managers of ABC Houston held a send-off breakfast for him and decorated the upstairs. Raleigh then showed the employees the bike ride trip and talked about being gone until JULY 6th!!!! It was a great good-bye. We then explained the hand outs we are going to be giving to our customers explaining the ride, why Raleigh is doing this for National Kidney Foundation, showed them a place for donatations which is www.firstgiving.com/raleighjenkins, and Tracy Dalcoe (Route Coordinator) said a terrific prayer for Raleigh and his brothers as well as the company.

Raleigh left at 10:30 AM this morning from the office and is headed toward Austin to get ready for the send off. He will be missed by his family, friends, and company. He and his brothers could use your prayers throughout the next few weeks.

Planned day of return is July 6th!

    (not actual training bike)

    (not actual training bike)

(DALLAS)   Dennis is making his final preparations, but things keep slowing the training down. Dennis was only able to get in 95 miles last week. The week was shortened due to rain, his bike being in the shop, and a family wedding. This week he hopes to ramp it up and ride 150 miles. His other goal is to ride seven days straight, something that has eluded him so far.

Also if you don’t know about it or just need a reminder, ABC Pest and Lawn Dallas will be testing for compatible bone marrow donors on May 21st from 9am to 8pm at our Bone Marrow Drive. The drive will be held at our office at 997 Grandy’s Lane, Lewisville, TX 75077. It’s a simple painless test of four cotton swabs in your mouth. And don’t be turned off by the thought of donating marrow. While modern donation may cause slight discomfort,  it doesn’t last long and your donation can literally save a person’s life.

Three Brothers, Three Charities, One Cross-Country Bike Ride

    Monday, April 20th, 2009

The Jenkins Brothers, Bobby, Raleigh and Dennis, have always been close and believe strongly in serving their family and community. This summer they are taking their bond and commitments to another level when they embark on the “Brothers in Arms: Ride for Charity”. A 2,380 mile, 42 day journey from Austin to Calgary, Canada. The ride leaves Austin May 24th and is scheduled to end in Calgary, Canada July 6th.

The ride is a recreation of one that Bobby took one summer while he was in college. This time they’re using the ride as a means of raising money for each of their favorite charities. Each charity is special and deserving. We hope you’ll take a moment to see each of these causes mean so much to the Jenkins Brothers. And if you are able, to make a contribution where you see fit.
